Approach

Home / Approach

We use an eclectic, goal-oriented, short-term therapy approach tailored to each client’s unique needs. Through open collaboration, we gently explore what matters most—whether that means understanding the past or focusing on today’s challenges. Our goal is always the same: to support meaningful change and help you feel better, sooner.

Taking each client’s unique history and personality into consideration, a multi-varied approach may involve the use of several theories and techniques to approach a particular problem from the perspective that appears most accurate and beneficial to the client.

In some cases, Dr. Rose D’Elia Schnabel together with the client may agree to examine a client’s personal history. By looking at the past an individual may become more aware of his/her own background and history and the role his/her past may have played in the development or manifestation of current issues. Lessons from the past are sometimes useful to make present decisions and planning for the future.

In all cases, Dr. Rose D’Elia Schnabel views problem analysis and the search for answers to be a collaboration between herself and the client.

Dr. Rose D’Elia Schnabel frequently asks clients to complete homework assignments between sessions. These assignments may include some reading or keeping a journal to increase awareness of relevant thoughts and behavior. The assignments are designed to increase the client’s awareness and understanding of self, others, or specific situations in order to reach a more comprehensive resolution in the context of brief, time limited therapy.

With an effective partnership between therapist and client, psychotherapy is usually successful in helping individuals resolve problems and get more out of life.

Psychotherapy typically ranges from just a few weeks up to about a year with ongoing sessions as necessary. The number of sessions required for the resolution of a given issue may vary according to many factors, but it is Dr. Rose D’Elia Schnabel’s goal to help her clients obtain the positive results they seek as quickly as possible. To further this end, other members of the family and significant others may be asked to join in the therapeutic process.
